Senior pictures are a big deal, so it’s important to be prepared! It seems like when you are preparing for something like this, there are so many things you don’t even think about until the last minute! Instead of rushing around the week of your senior’s session, here is a list of things you need to prepare ahead of time!
Session Date and Locations
Make sure your session date is in your calendar so you don’t accidentally schedule over it or make other plans!
Your senior and I will plan outfits and locations together beforehand. Make sure you know where each location is and how to get there.
Outfits and Props
Make sure each outfit you are bringing is clean, dry, and unwrinkled about a week before the session. This will let you know if any articles of clothing or accessories are missing, and give you time to look for them. Once you have everything together, put them somewhere where they won’t get lost or dirty.
If you are bringing any props (instruments, medals, awards, sports balls or props, etc.), make sure you find those and keep them in a safe location as well.
Pack everything up a day or two before your session and bring that bag to your session with you.
Appointments
Make sure you schedule any appointments you need for about 5 days to a week beforehand. This could include:
You want to make sure these appointments are close enough to your session date that there is no outgrowth or fading, but still a few days away that you can go back if you don’t love the results! If you are planning for any new piercings or tattoos, schedule that for a couple of weeks before your session, or for after the session.
How to show up to your session
Now that you are prepared for your session, it’s time to head to the studio! Your senior should come to the studio with clean, dry, bare face and hair (no makeup or products) in a button down or another shirt that is easy to take off without smudging makeup or flattening hair when it comes time to change into outfit number one.
At the studio, your senior will have their makeup and hair done professionally and change into their first outfit, then we are ready to head out to the first location and start shooting!
